Erica James in Russia

Hello everyone and apologies for the delay in replying to your emails but while you were all basking in the unexpected heatwave here I was on holiday in Russia where it was much cooler – a shivery 8c in Nizhny Novgorod.  Last year I took a river cruise from St Petersburg to Moscow and enjoyed it so much that this year I decided to follow the Volga from Moscow down to Astrakhan.  A particular highlight was stopping off at Volgograd and visiting the memorial to the Battle of Stalingrad and seeing the incredible Mother Russia statue on Mamaev Hill.   Russia isn’t on most people’s holiday wish list, but I can thoroughly recommend it.   I’m tempted now to do a trip from Kiev down to Odessa.  Anyone been there?

Me all dressed up with the lovely Natasha.

Great to see you again, Victoria, and thank you for the jam, which amazingly made the journey home!
